The Illiance specializes in performing hip-hop, R&B, modern jazz, and soul with their unique blend of instrumentation and versatility of their players. Though each member has been part of several different bands and projects in the Bay Area, this ensemble connected through the tight-knit San Jose music scene and has established a niche sound that mixes high-energy grooves, entertaining emcee skills, improvisational flourishes, and seamless musical interludes and transitions. Individually, the members of The Illiance boast music resumes that consist of advanced music degrees, performance experience around the Bay Area, California, United States, and internationally, appearances and features on numerous albums, and extensive original music catalogs of releases and compositions. The band has held a weekly Sunday night residency at 55 South, a downtown San Jose craft cocktail club favorite, since 2013, as well as numerous performances at Yoshi’s, San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, Milpitas 4th of July Festival, The Guild Theater, Drop 84, Bay 101 Casino, multiple Juneteenth festivals around the Bay Area, and numerous events for Stanford University, Apple, Pandora, and more. The Illiance is a staple in the South Bay’s music and entertainment community.
