RHODES WEEK at Mr. Tipple’s Presents Wampa featuring Adam Shulman

Wampa is an electric and eclectic trio of fender rhodes, electric bass and drums that plays a mix of jazz standard tunes in odd time signatures and some popular tunes from the 60s and 70s that lend themselves to a jazz format and improvisatory exploration. Wampa mixes jazz, funk, rock and pop into a nice balance of thumping groove and intellect by drawing from the strengths of each member.

Jeff Marrs has played with countless jazz artists, at nearly every major festival, and has become one of the top call drummers in the greater Bay Area. The list of notable artists he’s performed/recorded with include: Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joshua Redman, Mads Tolling, Faye Carol, Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra, Mel Martin Quartet, Wil Blades Trio, Mitch Marcus Quintet, Mike Zilber, Fil Lorenz Orchestra, Dayna Stephens, Barry Finnerty, Don Friedman, Ambrose Akinmuseri, Josh Nelson, Rodger Kellaway, Jackie Ryan, Steffon Harris, Ledisi, and many more.

Jason Muscat was born and raised in San Francisco, has been playing professionally since 1990. During those 25 years, he has performed and recorded with Donald Harrison, Greg Howe (Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake), Tim Herb Alexander (Primus), Alex Skolnick (Michael Manring, Testament), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Eric Krasno (Soullive) and Roy Thomas Baker (producer for Queen & The Cars).
Jason has worked with many Bay Area artists over the years playing live shows, recording and touring. He has had the pleasure of working with local greats such as Wally Schnalle, Jeff Massanari, Wil Blades, Eric McFadden, Rob Hart, Oscar Meyers, Jay Lane, Atma Anur, and Barry Finnerty, He is currently a member of Atta Kid, a Bay Area funk band led by Max Cowan and Daniel Casares. Jason plays every Sunday at City Church under the direction of Karl Digerness in collaboration with Minna Choi and the Magik Magik Orchestra.Jason is a long-standing member of one of the most in-demand cover bands in the country, Tainted Love, playing over 100 shows annually all throughout the Untied States.

Adam Shulman has been a staple of the San Francisco Jazz scene since he moved to the city in 2002. Before the move, Adam was a student at UC Santa Cruz where he studied with the great pianist Smith Dobson and the trumpeter/arranger Ray Brown. Adam has played as a sideman with internationally renowned artists Stefon Harris, Willie Jones III, Miguel Zenon, Mark Murphy, Alan Harris, Luciana Souza, Paula West, Ratzo Harris, Larry Coryell, Sean Jones, Grant Stewart, John Clayton, Bobby Hutcherson and with the Glen Miller Orchestra.
