Hailing from the vibrant city of Oakland, California, Rhonda Sauce emerges as a versatile force in the realm of jazz, earning her title as the “Swiss Army Knife of bandleaders.” With a background that weaves together classical and contemporary musical influences, she found her heart’s rhythm in the rich tapestry of Black American Music.

Rhonda’s journey through the world of music has been nothing short of extraordinary. She wears multiple hats as an accomplished arranger, composer, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist, and a captivating vocalist. Her passion for all styles of music runs deep, and it’s an infectious enthusiasm that infuses every note she sings. Her voice serves as a portal to the soul of yesteryear, enchanting audiences and leaving them craving for more.

As a Bay Area artist, Rhonda Sauce has had the privilege of collaborating with luminaries such as Lenny Williams, Jeff Chambers, Henrick Jul-Hansen, Chris Amberger, Faye Carroll, Benny Watson, and Terrance Kelly. These collaborations have enriched her musical journey and added depth to her sonic palette. Rhonda’s music has graced the stages of iconic Bay Area venues, including Freight and Salvage, Mr. Tipples Recording Studio, The Sound Room, Yoshi’s, and SF Jazz. Most recently, Rhonda was honored to be part of NEA Jazz Master Dee Dee Bridgewater’s Woodshed Network, where she further honed her skills and connected with fellow women jazz innovators.

In her latest recording, “Back To You,” Rhonda Sauce embarks on a timeless musical journey that showcases her unwavering dedication to the bygone eras of jazz. Yet, she is no mere custodian of the past; she is a visionary, forging ahead to craft her unique sound that harmoniously marries tradition with innovation.
